Bastide Saint Louis, is the old/new main town of Carcassonne. it is strongly recommended that you visit this and the old fortified « La Cité »
The morning is the best time for visiting the old City since after lunch there are a lot more people, you may also find a taxi a good idea from the
port, although after a fine lunch in the old City a wander back through the « Bastide Saint Louis » is interesting, good for the digestion and downhill almost all the way to the port!
